When Hopkins County Deputies received information that a white male had stolen items from Tractor Supply in Winnsboro, Dispatch advised the vehicle was a white Dodge auto. Investigator Dennis Findley saw the vehicle and tried to stop but the driver, Jeffery Edward Mowrer, 26, of Brashear, fled instead of stopping. Several marked units joined the pursuit.

The chase began along State Highway 154, State Highway 11, State Highway 19, and FM 1567, through a pasture and Mowrer, eventually fled on foot and locked himself in his house in the 900 block of FM 1567 West.
