Mowrer Arrested Following Friday Morning Pursuit

When Hopkins County Deputies received information that a white male had stolen items from Tractor Supply in Winnsboro, Dispatch advised the vehicle was a white Dodge auto. Investigator Dennis Findley saw the vehicle and tried to stop but the driver, Jeffery Edward Mowrer, 26, of Brashear, fled instead of stopping. Several marked units joined the pursuit.

The chase began along State Highway 154, State Highway 11, State Highway 19, and FM 1567, through a pasture and Mowrer, eventually fled on foot and locked himself in his house in the 900 block of FM 1567 West.

DPS, Hopkins County CID, Deputies, K9 Unit, and Sulphur Springs Police converged on the house and when the SWAT Team entered, Mower gave himself up.

Property matching the description of items taken from the Winnsboro Tractor Supply were found in the auto that had been pursued. Using social media, Winnsboro Chief of Police Andy Chester publicly thanked the various law enforcement entities that assisted in the location and arrest of Mowrer.

Mowrer is in Hopkins County Jail charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle and is being held on a $30,000 bond.
