Wildcat Coach Owens Football Camp Underway

Wildcats Football Coach Greg Owens opened his three-day football camps Tuesday morning (July 31).

Camp for boys entering the third through the eight grade took place from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Coach Owens said over forty boys attended. He said they got sweaty but kept smiling and had a good time. Coach Owens said the camp features fundamentals. He said boys who missed the first session could still register and attend on Wednesday and Thursday.

The second camp, for entering ninth grade football players, took place from 9:30 a.m. until noon Tuesday. Coach Owens said the camp marked the beginning of the football season for the freshmen. He said coaches know the boys from middle school. Some also attended The Edge conditioning program this summer.

After the three days of camp, the freshman will be the special focus of workouts next week. Schools like Sulphur Springs High School that went through spring football in May can bring in their freshman players for practice next week. Evening sessions starting at 5 p.m. are planned. Players entering the tenth through the twelfth grade will not be able to report for practice until August 13.
