Graveside services for Wendell Grimes, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Jamie Sonnen officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Pallbearers will be Chase Doyle, Hunter Potts, Bailey Potts, Kyle Tate, Roman Webb, Bobby Buford, Ryan Grimes, Adam Grimes, and Britten Webb. Honorary pallbearer will be Camden Rodriguez. Wendell passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his residence.
He was born on January 31, 1939 in Clovis, NM, the son of Chancy and Velma Dell Smith Grimes. Wendell worked as a troubleshooter for AT&T for many years. He married Sherri Tosh on March 1, 1958 in Clovis, NM. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by daughter, Kelly Doyle and husband Mark of Sulphur Springs, son, Wendell C. Grimes and wife Shelly of Sulphur Springs, daughter, Kim Potts and husband Doyle of Sulphur Springs, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wilber Grimes, and sister, Thelda Poor.
