A new courtroom will be built at the Law Enforcement Center/Jail with work starting sometime in the next two months. A contract for $390,453.76 for the construction was approved by Hopkins County Commissioners Court Wednesday morning, May 30th in a special session. Commissioners also approved a new communication system that will allow inmates to send and receive texts at a call/text station. The charges for texts will be 50-cents and Judge Robert Newsom said he anticipates the county will net as much or more income with the addition of texting.
