Miller Grove had four track athletes qualify for the state meet and Saltillo had two qualify for state at a regional meet at Whitney last week.
For the Hornets, Albert Serrano qualified in the 3200-meter run, the 1600-meter run and the 800-meter run. Serrano was second in the 3200, first in the 1600 and first in the 800. Kobe Robertson qualified in the 3200-meter run and the 1600-meter run. Robertson finished third in both the 3200 and the 1600. Lady Hornet Jorja Bessonett qualified in both the 3200-meter run and the 1600-meter run. Bessonett was first in both races. Cassidy Seaney also qualified in the 800-meter run and the 400-meter run. Seaney was second in the 800, and first in the 400. In other Miller Grove regional results, Grant Sharp was fifth in the 400-meter run, Lauren Bullard was third in the 3200-meter run and seventh in the 800-meter run, Jolee Fox was fifth in the 3200-meter run and seventh in the 1600-meter run. The Lady Hornets 4 X 400-meter relay team finished third. The team is made up of Alexa Pelerose, Bullard, Rose Schones and Seaney.
For Saltillo, Lady Lion Sienna Collins qualified for state in both 800-meter run and 1600-meter run. Collins was first in the 800 and second in the 1600. Lion Trevor Moore qualified in the 800-meter run. Moore qualified as a wild card due to having the best third place time. Moore’s time was a personal best. In other Saltillo results, Jayden Holloway had a personal best and he was seventh in the 3200-meter run, Edi Olayo was eleventh in the 100-meter dash, Ben Moore was ninth in the 300-meter hurdles, sixteenth in the long jump and was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, Matt Gurley was tenth in the long jump with a personal best and was thirteenth in the triple jump, Trevor Moore was seventh in the 400-meter run with a personal best. The Lions 4 X 400-meter relay finished seventh. The relay team is made up of Olayo, Walker McGill, Hendrick Rios and Trevor Moore. Rios, with a personal best, was also fourth in the 1600-meter run.
