Lady Cats Seven Straight Wins Until Hallsville Loss

After seven straight wins to begin district play this season, the Lady Cats’ softball team experienced the agony of defeat in a big way as Hallsville overwhelmed the Lady Cats, 10-4 at Lady Cat Park on a windy, blustery Tuesday (April 3) night. The loss cut the Lady Cats lead in half in the district standings, from a two game lead to a one game lead.

The Lady Bobcats scored three first inning runs and exploded for five more runs in the second inning to take an 8-0 lead. They added two more runs in the fifth inning to make it a 10-2 lead. The Lady Cats could only manage a run in the third and fourth innings and two more in the sixth inning. The Lady Bobcats outhit the Lady Cats 11 to 7.

Bailey Haggerty lost for only the second time all season. She is now 17-2. She allowed 10 runs on 11 hits while striking out 3 with an uncharacteristic 7 walks. Kelsey Wallace had the best night for a Lady Cat going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a triple.

The Lady Cats are now 7-1 in district play and they are 20-5 for the season. The Lady Cats play at Pine Tree Friday night.
