Fannon Garrett

Funeral service for Mr. Fannon Garrett, age 97, of Emory, were on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Emory Baptist Church.  The wake was held at his home church, Prairie Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Fannon Garrett, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 12, 2018, in Dallas, in Rehab and Wellness of Dallas.
He was born November 28, 1920, to the parentage of Sidney “Cap” and Fannie Thomas Garrett. Mr. Fannon was a lifetime resident of Emory.He married Deora McMillan in Emory on May 30, 1946…and to this union was born 3 sons and 1 daughter. Mr. Garrett, for most of his working career was self-employed, owning his own sanitation company. He was a lifetime member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church. Also, he served as a deacon there for over 60 years. He was a member of Prairie Grove Lodge #185 before it dissolved, and moved to Quitman as the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons…. and the name became Quitman Headlight Lodge# 124. Mr. Garrett served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Mr. Garrett will long be remembered by all who knew him.

Sons:  Marcus Garrett and wife (Doris) of Greenville; J.W. Garrett and wife Laverne of Cedar Hill
Daughter:  Fannie Brown and husband Ronnie of Rowlett
Daughter-in-law:  Delores Garrett of Emory
Sister-in-laws:  Mildred Garrett, and Modean Lane
Grandchildren:  15
Great-grandchildren:  27
Great-great-grandchildren:  9
Numerous other loving family and friends
He was preceded in death by:  Parents; Wife; and  his youngest son, Leslie Garrett; also, numerous other siblings.
Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
