Edmund Alvin Schulze

Edmund Alvin Schulze, 90 years 1 month and 15 days, passed away on Thursday March 15, 2018 at Mineola Healthcare Residence in Mineola, Texas. He was given life and born on January 31, 1928 in Lee County at Fedor, Texas to Daniel Jacob Schulze and Lydia Martha (Weiser) Schulze. He was baptized on February 12, 1928 at Trinity Lutheran church in Fedor, Texas and attended the eight-grade church school, later completing his GED. He worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army on November 30, 1950. After serving for 2 years, he settled in Dallas where he met Lora Faye Johnson of Quitman, Texas. They were married on November 12, 1954 in Oak Cliff. His favorite hobby was vegetable gardening. He also enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, bird feeding and birdwatching, especially observing Purple Martins.

Family preceding him in death were his wife Lora, five siblings, Erwin, Anna Schmidt, Marvin, Roland and Raymond.

Left to cherish the memory of his life are family members, daughter Dorothy Jane Pool and husband Samuel; son, Floyd Schulze and wife Laura; grandson, Robert Schulze; granddaughters, Emily Cooper and Elizabeth Bateman; and three great-grandchildren. Brothers Clarence, Gilbert and Daniel. Sisters Amanda Wolf and Gertrude Hobratschk.

Edmund retired from the Unites States Postal Service after 30 years of service. After retirement, in 1987 Edmund became a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Laborers for Christ. He worked on approximately 15 projects before his last in 1999. He and Lora enjoyed traveling to and experiencing every location including: Hewitt, Sugar Land, Boerne, Amarillo, Rowlett, Stephenville, and Rockport, Texas. Out of state projects included Missoula, Montana, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Denver, Arvada and Littleton, Colorado.

Edmund also volunteered with the construction of Wisconsin Evangelical Grace Lutheran Church in Scroggins, Texas and helped raise the steeple.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 19th, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, 6788 FM 115, Scroggins, TX 75480 at 10:00 am, Pastor Vilas Glaeske officiating. Interment will be held on Tuesday, March 20th at 1:00 pm in the Rollins Cemetery near Mannsville, Oklahoma, Reverend Phillip Borntrager officiating. Floyd Schulze, Bob Schulze, Daniel Schulze, Mark Smith will serve as pallbearers.
