The complainant stated she observed Cooksey inside a vehicle at the residence when she arrived. She believed Cooksey was attempting to steal the vehicle. Since the complainant was not the owner of the residence, the officer contacted the owner who gave permission to enter the residence.

When Cooksey was found and read her Miranda Warning, she admitted to entering the vehicle to retrieve the keys to the residence without the home owner’s permission and to drinking his whiskey found in the residence.

Cooksey is charged with Burglary of a Habitation and with Burglary of a Vehicle. She is in Hopkins County Jail held on bonds totaling $22,000.
