On this big Tuesday basketball game day (February 6), it’s Sulphur Springs versus rival Mount Pleasant with huge playoff implications.
The #14 ranked Wildcats‘ basketball team is at home as the Mount Pleasant Tigers come to town. Both teams are tied in the loss column with just one district loss. The Tigers have 9 district wins and the Wildcats 8. The Wildcats won at Mount Pleasant, 57-54 back on January 12. The Wildcats took a loss at Texas High, 76-67 on January 30. On Tuesday game day, there will be a freshman game at 5 p.m. followed by a JV game at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats are 25-4 for the season. Mount Pleasant is 24-5 overall. Expect a packed house. Meanwhile the #14 ranked Lady Cats‘ basketball game travels to Mount Pleasant for their final scheduled district game. The Lady Cats and Texas High are tied in the loss column with just one district loss apiece. The teams can finish no worse than second place. The Lady Cats defeated Mount Pleasant in Wildcats Gym, 68-33 back on January 12. Last year, the Lady Cats eked out a win at Mount Pleasant, 43-41. The Lady Cats are 10-1 in district play and 24-4 for the season. Texas High completes district play at Greenville. They are also 10-1 in district play. If the two teams, tie for first place, they will have a game to determine the district champ and the district’s #1 playoff seed Friday evening at Paris.
