The Saltillo Lady Lions’ basketball team won their Area playoff game Friday evening. The Lady Lions got by Ector, 39-35. The Lady Lions had a tough first two quarters and trailed 22-10 at halftime. The Lady Lions reduced the deficit after three quarters but still trailed 32-26. The Lady Lions outscored Ector 13-3 in the fourth quarter to get the win. Madison Simmons led the Lady Lions with 17 points. Jocelyn Ochoa scored 9 points. Chandler Bain had 8 points. Christi Gurley had 3 points. Maddy Smith added 2 points. The Lady Lions are now 19-15 for the season.
In other county school sports news, a North Hopkins playoff basketball game has been firmed up. The Panthers will be playing Wolfe City Monday at 7 p.m. in Commerce.
