Funeral service for James “Buster” Thomas, age 86, of East Tawakoni, was held Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Point Church of Christ. Burial followed in Omaha. Butch passed away suddenly on Thursday evening at his home.
He was born in Naples on May 19, 1931, to the parentage of Montie and Ruby Smart Thomas. He served his country, during the Korean War, in the U.S. Army. Buster married Katie Jo Higgins in Texarkana, AR, on March 10, 1951. He was employed in several different lines of business, however for the last many years he owned and operated Doc’s Discount Store in West Tawakoni. Also, for some 31 years, Buster served the community as either Mayor or councilman. He attended the Point Church of Christ.

Sons: Dennis Thomas (Donna) of Point; and Mike Thomas of Royse City
Daughter: Vickie Jones of Richmond
Grandchildren: Jeff Jones, Jarrod Thomas, Christie Thomas, Nicholas Thomas, Casey Muse, Christian Thomas, Gabriel Thomas, and, Hope Thomas
Great-grandchildren: Ashley and Kayla, Dylan, Savana, and Kameron
