#10 Lady Cats Overwhelm Hallsville 73-26

The Lady Cats’ basketball team, ranked #10 in Class 5A, improved their district record to 2-0 and won their eighth straight game as they overwhelmed Hallsville at Hallsville, 73-26 Friday night.

The Lady Cats got off to a strong start and led the Lady Bobcats, 19-4 after one quarter. The Lady Cats were up 37-13 at the half. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Cats lead was 37 points as they led, 54-17. The Lady Cats outscored Hallsville, 19-9 in the fourth quarter to make the final, 73-26.

Kaylee Jefferson, an East Carolina commit, led the Lady Cats with 25 points. She also had a team high five rebounds, 4 assists and a team high 9 steals. Sadavia Porter scored 23 points and had a team high 5 assists. Imani Taylor also hit for double figures with 10 points. Autumn Tanton returned after missing the Greenville game Tuesday with an ankle injury and scored 7 points. Danielle Godbolt added 4 points. Jamia Hall and Tarayla Kelley both had 2 points. The Lady Cats shot a respectable 47% from the floor hitting 30 of 64 shots. They were only 1 for 11 from behind the three-point line. Jefferson hit the Lady Cats only three-pointer. The Lady Cats were good from the free point line hitting 12 of 17 for 71%. The Lady Cats collected 39 steals. They made 16 turnovers.

The Lady Cats are 2-0 in district play and 14-2 for the season. They travel to Pine Tree Tuesday for an afternoon contest starting at around 2:30 p.m.
