Tira News November 10, 2017

Congratulations are in order for Breeanna Hicks, daughter of Mindy Hicks and granddaughter of Mickey and Clarissa Clayton, of Tira. Breeanna, a student at North Hopkins High School, was named the new Cover Girl at the Hopkins County Fall Festival.

Yvonne Weir reports that Destri Weir and Eben Esterhuyse were married in a lovely ceremony at their home in Dallas on October 28th. Those attending were Destri’s family and several friends, including Destri’s high school friend, Julie Littlefield, from Austin. Yvonne comments, “It was a cool night but there was a large fire pit and everyone was very happy.” She adds, “Last weekend Dustin and Maria came to visit. We played Catch Phrase around the fire with Sarah and Dakota.”

A Veteran’s Day Ceremony was held in the North Hopkins gym on Friday morning, November 10th. Veterans and their guests were invited to attend a breakfast in their honor, prior to the ceremony. Let’s all take time to remember those who have served in the military and those on active duty serving our country.

I met Brenda Allen, of Yantis, and  Yvonne Weir at the Corner Grub House on Friday. They treated me to late birthday lunch. We took advantage of the pleasant weather and enjoyed eating and visiting around the table outside.

Our family Tiffany, Kenden, Jaidyn, Chip and I were at Tim and Lori Vaughn’s on Saturday for the Vaughn family reunion, along with many others. Morgan Joslin arrived a little late, after driving in following his shift at the Ruston Airport in Louisiana. Guests enjoyed fried fish, chicken, and the fixings and several decadent desserts.
