Funeral services for Rev. Don Truitt Shaw, 81, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Birthright United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Bailey, Rev. David Shawver, Rev. Monte Stuart, and Rev. Gary Regan officiating. Interment will follow at Tira Cemetery with Jimmie Lewis, Blake Adams, Cooper Adams, Brian Adams, Jimmie Goldsmith, Jerry Don Gibby, Bobby Thomas, and Bob Williams serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., prior to service time. Don passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Wesley House in Sulphur Springs.
He was born on October 26, 1935 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Ernest Ford and Annie Jane Horn Shaw. He received his Masters’ degree in Divinity and served as a Methodist Minister for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs. He married Patsy Ann Gibson on October 23, 1953 in Tira, TX. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Don is also survived by daughters, Dona Shaw of Sulphur Springs, Ruth Ann Ray and husband Jeff of Wichita Falls, grandsons, Phillip Ray and wife Alyssa of Texarkana, Joshua Ray and wife Susanna of Wichita Falls, and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Charlie, and Caedmon Ray.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
