Dan Carlos Smith, 70, of Winnsboro

Dan Carlos Smith, age 70 of Winnsboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 at home. He was born on May 15th, 1947 in Tyler to Dan M. Smith and Delores (Morris) Smith, his parents preceded him in death as well as a step mother Naomi Smith. Dan Carlos was a United States Marine, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam and receiving the Bronze Star, he was a life member of the VFW. Mr. Smith was proud to be an Electrical Lineman, having worked in several areas of Texas, including, Longview, Mount Pleasant and Winnsboro, he retired from SWEPCO after working in the field for 36 years.
Surviving family includes, daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jerry Worrel of McKinney, TX, and Jennifer L. and Steve Brite of Elbert, CO. A brother and sister-in law survive, Dan Michael and Dianne Smith as well as sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Buck Wilson, and sister Georgia Smith. Grandchildren are, Whitney and her husband Steven Barsalou, Meghan Ryan Coleman, Richard Armor, and Jordan and wife Caitlin Ables, additionally two great grandchildren survive, Mallory McFarland and Evan Jacobsen. One special surviving friend and companion must be mentioned, Patch, Dan Carlos’s beloved Dachshund. Several step-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.
Family and friends will be holding a private celebration of Dan Carlos over the weekend of September 30th, 2017.
