The Lady Cats’ softball team defeated Marshall 13-3 in Marshall Wednesday. The game was called after six innings due to the ten run rule.
The Lady Cats broke a scoreless tie with a 4 run second inning. They scored 3 more runs in the top of the fourth to go up, 7-0. The Lady Mavs closed to within 4 runs with a three run bottom of the fifth. The Lady Cats still led 7-3. The Lady Cats put the game away for good with a 6 run top of the sixth.
The Lady Cats had 15 hits. Jaye Doughtie had 3 hits and Ashley Moore and Kristen Allen had 2 hits apiece. Alyssa Abron walked twice and Macee Hollins once. Brinklee Driver had 3 RBI’s and Doughtie and Hannah Crowson had 2 RBI’s each.
Alli Fite got the pitching win for the Lady Cats. She pitched all six innings allowing 3 runs but only 2 hits. Fite also struck out 9. Both teams made an error.
The Lady Cats improved to 8-2 in district play and they are 21-6 for the season. Due to the rain out Tuesday, the Lady Cats will have back to back games over two days. The Lady Cats will play first place Texas High at Lady Cat Park Thursday at 6 p.m. It’s senior night and the Lady Cats will recognize Jaye Doughtie, Hannah Crowson and Kristen Allen.
