Lady Cats Begin District Play With Win

The Lady Cats’ softball team opened district play in fine fashion with a 5-1 win at Greenville Tuesday night.

The Lady Cats broke a scoreless tie with single runs in the second and the third innings to take a 2-0 lead. They added two more runs in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Greenville scored a single run in the fifth inning but the Lady Cats matched that run in the top of the seventh.

Bailey Haggerty got the pitching win allowing just one run and eight hits in seven innings while striking out 4.

The Lady Cats had eleven hits. Sadie Stroud had three hits and Alyssa Abron and Hannah Crowson had two hits each. Brinklee Driver worked a walk. Among RBI leaders were Alli Fite, Abron and Kalsey Wallace with one apiece.

The Lady Cats are 1-0 in district play and 14-4 for the season. The Lady Cats play Hallsville Friday evening at Lady Cat Park.
