FARM BUREAU VOLUNTEERS HELP SERVE DINNER BELL LUNCH

The Dinner Bell Food Ministry celebrated the 5th anniversary of service to the community on Wednesday February 15 at First United Methodist Church dining hall in downtown Sulphur Springs. Officers and members of Hopkins/Rains County Farm Bureau teamed up as Community Partners to help serve the meal and to celebrate the Dinner Bell milestone. Their teamwork is especially fitting because Farm Bureau’s “Food Connection Week” is observed February 13-17 with appreciation for the abundant food supply that Americans enjoy due to farmers, ranchers and the agriculture industry.

Food Connection Week marks the time in the new year that most Americans have already earned enough income to pay for their year’s supply of food.  This week, Hopkins/Rains County Farm Bureau reached out to the community with “Food Connection Trivia” on the KSST Morning Show, with gift cards from Brookshire’s as prizes for winners. Farm Bureau will continue to showcase local agriculture during next week’s Hopkins County Junior Market Livestock Show where FFA and 4H youth will show livestock projects prior to the Sale of Champions on Saturday February 25 to earn college scholarship money. Farm Bureau reminds everyone that agriculture is the nation’s largest employer, with more than 21 million people involved in some phase of agriculture.
