Just a few projects are left to be done on the city of Sulphur Springs 5-year Capital Improvement Plan. A major project, Bill Bradford Road, should be completed in March. It got underway last March. City Manager Marc Maxwell says new water and sewer lines and drainage improvements have been completed for some time now. Atmos installed a new gas line. Concrete work is underway and Maxwell says the street work is about two-thirds complete. Maxwell says work has also started on Locust Street between Main and Bellview. A new sewer line has been installed. A new water line is being replaced. Atmos will replace the gas line there. A concrete street will be built. After work is done there, Moore Street between Main and Bellview will get the same upgrades as Locust. Last on the project list is a sewer project that right now has the potential to keep a city manager awake at night according to Maxwell. The city will be replacing an aging sewer main and rerouting it. It currently runs right under the hospital and some doctors’ offices. After the current list of capital improvement projects is completed, Maxwell says the city will create a new list.
