Lady Cats 3-0 in District with Win Against Pine Tree

The Lady Cats’ basketball team remained unbeaten in district play at 3-0 after a 52-35 win over Pine Tree Monday in Wildcats Gym. Once again the Lady Cats won with strong defense allowing the Lady Pirates less than 9 points a quarter. The Lady Cats led 15-11 after one quarter and 19-16 at halftime. The Lady Cats used a big third quarter to expand their lead after three to 34-20.

Point guard Sadavia Porter led the Lady Cats with 17 points. Kaylee Jefferson added 12 points and Daieyshia Pruitt scored 11 points. Pine Tree point guard Marissa Gary led all scorers with 23 points. The Lady Cats made 17 of 36 shots for 47%. They struggled from behind the 3 point line making only 2 of 11. Porter and Tori Moore both had one three-point basket. Jefferson also had 6 rebounds with 4 steals and 3 assists. Autumn Tanton led the Lady Cats with 7 rebounds including 5 offensive rebounds. Porter also had 6 steals, 8 deflections and 5 assists. The Lady Cats committed only 8 fouls.

The Lady Cats improved their season record to 14-3. After a Christmas break, the Lady Cats will resume play in an Idabel, Oklahoma tournament December 28-30. Lady Cats Coach Jeff Chapman was the head coach at Idabel for 12 years before he came to Sulphur Springs.
