Mrs. Mona (Ray) Sims, age 88 of Winnsboro, passed away on Thursday, November 17th, 2016 at Hospice of East Texas- Homeplace in Tyler. Mona was born on July 3rd, 1928 in Chireno, Texas to the late Norris Ray and Audrey Stephens Ray. She graduated as salutatorian from Chireno High School in 1947; she married Zack Sims on March 22, 1947. She was a homemaker, and active member of First Baptist Church of Winnsboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mr. Zack Sims; and sister, Lurline Hawk.
She is survived by her son, Dale Sims and wife Linda of Leesburg; daughter, Tonya Whittiker and husband James of Winnsboro; two grandchildren, Christopher Sims of Winnsboro, Audra Sims of Lindale; twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21st, 2016 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at First Baptist Church of Winnsboro. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m., Dr. David Rose and Bro. Dan Hubbell conducting, interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Scroggins, with David Cochran, Tommy Lee, Chris Sims, Will Harrison, Phil Skipworth, Johnny Lanier serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers- Dayne Redding, Ron Craddock.
