Jewell Alvis Clay

Mrs. Jewell Alvis Clay, age 109 of Winnsboro, passed away peacefully at her home, on Friday, November 18th, 2016. Jewell was born on December 3rd, 1906 in Franklin County to the late John Alvis and Effie Langham Alvis. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Street Baptist Church. She married the late Roger C. Clay, Sr. on August 9, 1924, he preceded her on October 2, 1924.

Also, preceding her were her parents; one son, Harold Wayne Clay; one daughter, Margaret Clay Walsh; two brothers, Joe Alvis, Robert Alvis; one sister, Marie Alvis Clay; and a grandson, David Clay.

She is survived by two sons, William Clay and wife Sammie of Richardson, Roger C. Clay, Jr. and wife Martha of Whitehouse; two daughters, Wanda Jo Taylor of Alba, Pam Keith of Winnsboro; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20th, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro. Graveside Service will be follow on Sunday, November 20th, 2016 at Lee Cemetery of Winnsboro, at 2:30 pm, Bro. Fred Morrow and Bro. Charles Ethridge officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
