Renovation On State Highway 19 in Rains County Begins October 3

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that work to renovate State Highway 19 in Rains County will begin Oct. 3, 2016.

Contractor DL Lennon Inc., Commerce, Texas, was awarded the contract for this project valued at more than $8.4 million. TxDOT officials said the contractor has 255 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project. The target completion date is November 2017.

The contractor’s work crews will rehabilitate the existing roadway from US 69 in Emory northward to the Hopkins-Rains County line. Crews will rework the existing roadway base, apply cement treatment and install a new pavement overlay using hot mix asphalt, officials said.

The contractor will perform this work in phases, to keep north- and south-bound traffic moving along the highway and to minimize temporary lane closures.

TxDOT officials advised drivers who frequent this roadway to reduce their speed and remain on alert as they approach and travel through work zones, and to avoid distracted driving. Access to adjacent property will be maintained at all times while this work is underway, officials said.
