SSHS Cross Country Team Qualify Top 7 in Jace Jog Saturday

It may appear that Wildcats and Lady Cats’ cross country members will just be tuning up for the season when they participate in the local Jace Jog in Sulphur Springs Saturday. However the 5K run is much more than that. How runners do will determine the top seven runners for both teams. Competition should be fierce.

Cross Country Coach Ross Hicks says 45 hopefuls showed up for a early Thursday morning practice run that took them through Coleman Park before the sun was up. Runners not making the top seven on each team will start the season on the JV team.

The Jace Jog takes place Saturday morning starting at 8 a.m. in Coleman Park. Coach Hicks says his goal for his teams is to win the district championship, which will earn them a spot at the regional meet.
