Funeral service for Glenda Nell Rice, age 87, of Emory, will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, 1:00 pm, at Emory Baptist Church. Bro. Richard Pile and Bro. Robert Burns will officiate. Interment will follow service at 3:00 pm,, in Greenville, at Memoryland Memorial Park, 800 W. Jack Finney Blvd., Greenville, TX 75402. Mrs. Rice died at her residence Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 9, 2016.
She was born in Caddo Mills, Aug.12.1928, to Frank Allen and Ira Eunice Johnson Glasscock. After graduation from high school, she married Avon Rice in Floyd, Aug. 7, 1948. To this marriage was born two daughters. Glenda was a licensed cosmetologist and worked as a hair dresser for several years. But, after the birth of their first child, she became a stay-at-home Mother…making her husband, children, and home her first priority. She was also dedicated to her church, Emory Baptist Church, where she was a long time member. Also, of importance, she was married to a deacon of the church for some 29 years.

Daughters: Shirley Hooten (Richard) of Emory; and Diane Willis (Mike) of Emory
Sister: Shirley Jones of Melbourne, FL
Grandchildren: Nathaniel Hooten (Pam); Brooke Bentley (Davis); Morgan Jerry (Corey); Amy Hughes (Pete); and Leah Beard (Kyle)
Great-grandchildren: Meredith and Ashland Hooten; Twins, Cage and Colt Jerry; Chase, Ava, and Lena Watterson; Noah and Owen Hughes; and Grace Beard
Numerous other loving family and friends
Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband in 1991; Brother, Robert Glasscock; and sister, Joyce Coleman
