Contestants Needed for Ms. Hopkins County Classic

Entering it’s 7th year, the Ms. Hopkins County Classic Pageant is in danger of being cancelled due to a shortage of contestants. The 2016 contest, set for June 4, is open to any Hopkins County woman age 60 or older. There is no fee to enter. Rather than a “beauty” pageant, the mission of the contest is to celebrate life accomplishments and a continued love for living and giving. Areas that will be judged include Talent, Evening Gown (can be a nice church dress), Interview with Judges, and Philosophy of Life. Winner automatically qualifies for competition in the Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant this summer. If you know a lady who would like to enter or receive more information, phone Karon Weatherman at the Sr’s Center, 903-885-1661. Karon hopes that more contestants will sign up before the April 15 deadline.

2015 winner is Wanda Wilson. Crowned Ms. Hopkins County Classic in past years are: 2010 Stella Bagley,  2011 Betty Caudle, 2012 Ina Gore, 2013 Clydene Fielden, 2014 Sonya Baker-Norton. A former Hopkins County runner-up, Nancy Bolton earned the Ms. Texas Senior Classic crown in 2012.
