Funeral services for Joe Hudson, age 81 of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at First Baptist Church – Sulphur Springs (Spence Chapel) with Rev. David Craig and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Honorary pallbearers are David Baucom, Dick Pogue, Ronnie Hudson, David Hudson, Jarrod Sibley, Tommy Gulledge, Gunner Terry, Coy Ray Hudson, Steve Hudson, Jason Sibley and Gary Hudson. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Joe passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Roy and Mary Alice (Cook) Hudson. He married Mary Nell Craig on July 4, 1953 in Sulphur Springs.
He was self-employed; member of First Baptist Church – Sulphur Springs Shepherding 4 Sunday School Class and member of the Masonic Lodge in Sulphur Springs.
Along with his wife, other survivors include his sons, Michael Hudson and wife, Cheryl and Scott Hudson and wife, Kathy, all of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Crystal Gesch, Brandon Hudson and Chase Hudson and step-grandchildren, Blake Goldsmith, Cade Goldsmith, Alex Mobley, Bryce Mobley, Jeremy Potter, Cody Potter and Carolyn Lane.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Cleve Hudson, Paul Hudson and Jimmy Hudson and one sister, Murl Doolittle.
