Wildcats Powerlifters Begin Season

PowerliftingThe Wildcats new powerlifting coach is Jacob Alford. Coach Alford was a powerlifter in high school at Lindale and was a state qualifier his senior year. He says things have been going great since team members began to lift right after the end of the football season. He’s noticed they’ve gotten a lot stronger.

Coach Alford says he’s had a lot of lifters participate and he’ll be able to choose between 18 and 20 to take to meets. He plans to take 11 lifters to Lindale for the Wildcats first meet of the season. Coach Alford says he has a mostly young team with several veteran lifters mixed in. He’ll have junior Taylor Ibarra back. Ibarra just missed making weight for last year’s regional meet in the 132 pound class. Coach Alford also has sophomore Dustin Crabtree back. He qualified for the regional meet in the 123 pound class. Coach Alford says he is anxious but excited to get the season underway Saturday.
