Nicholas Edward Shanahan

Nicholas Edward Shanahan, age 32 of Cooper, TX, passed into eternal life during the morning hours of September 2, 2015 at his home in Cooper.  Nicholas was born on November 6, 1982 in Hinsdale, IL to Mr. Jim Shanahan and Mrs. Cindee Portner Flanery.  Nicholas had a wonderful childhood as he was raised by his mother and step-father, Hubert Flanery.  On March 23, 2007, Nicholas received the honor and blessing of being a father to his daughter, Lily.

Nicholas lived his life to the fullest.  His precious daughter gave him meaning to his life and he enjoyed every moment that he could: spending precious time with her and his fiancé, Lindsey Kennedy.  Nicholas will be remembered for his “prankster” character and loving attitude toward his family and friends.  To Nicholas, his friends were his family; to him there was no difference.  He loved fishing, and during the evening hours he could be found cruising the back roads with his fiancé, enjoying the countryside.

Nicholas is survived by his daughter, Lily Shanahan of Cooper, TX; his parents, Mr. Hubert Flanery and Mrs. Cindee Portner Flanery of Cooper, TX; six brothers, James Shanahan and wife Alexis of Paris, TX, Joshua Shanahan and wife Samantha of Gainesville, TX, Michael Shanahan or Aurora, IL, Christopher Flanery of Klondike, TX, Kenneth Flanery and wife Shantel of Cooper, TX, and Timothy Flanery and fiancé Amie of Point, TX; three sisters, Joy Flanery Emerson of Cooper, TX, Melody Rogers and husband Aaron of Trinidad, TX, and Bree Shanahan of Aurora, IL; his fiancé, Lindsey Kennedy of Cooper, TX; his close friend, or as he would tell people, “his forth sister,” Ms. Tiffany Luman of Cooper, TX; and numerous family members.

There will be a visitation on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Delta Funeral Home.  Services for Nicholas Shanahan will be on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Delta Funeral Home with James Shanahan officiating.  Pallbearers will be James Goodson, Allen Foster, Michael Story, Terry Maples III, Bennie Goodson, Joshua Shanahan, Rusty Woodson, and Timothy Flanery.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Cole Whooten, Gregory Pfister, Kevin Ward, Chris Flanery, James Shanahan, Kenneth Flanery, and Aaron Rogers.  Burial will follow at Ben Franklin Garden of Memories Cemetery in Ben Franklin, TX.
