Homecoming Week, Car Give-Away Fill Plaza Saturday

Perhaps the largest crowd of the season gathered during the Saturday Evening Market on Celebration Plaza to celebrate the start of Homecoming Week for Sulphur Springs schools and to anxiously anticipate the possibility of winning their choice of one of 14 new cars offered by Sulphur Springs Jeep Chrysler Dodge. Jeff Shelton began the early evening Homecoming activities when he introduced Wildcat Head Coach Greg Owens who introduced the SSHS Cheerleaders and members of the 2015 varsity squad. The Downtown business Association provided activities for all ages during the day.

Activities prior to the evenings give-away and music included bounce houses, slides and a water slide on Main Street, which had been blocked off for the day’s activities. Regular venues were also overrun with activity. From vendors to chess and checkers to the water feature filled with children, laughter and conversation filled the plaza. Music and a video were also planned.

After the must-be-present-to-win give-way, much of the crowd began leaving the Plaza as streets clogged with pedestrians and autos.
