Memorial services for John B. Matkin are set for Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Brashear Baptist Church with Rev. David Burns officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
John B. Matkin was married to his beloved wife, Carolyn Coulter-Matkin for 50 years. John and Carolyn had two children and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren together. John was a proud husband, father, Papaw, and friend. John was also a proud truck driver for 30 years with Merchant Fast Motor Freight Lines. In his spare time he loved to work in his garden with his favorite pair of overalls on. John would always be seen on his red tractor or fishing in his bass boat. No matter the time or day, John would always enjoy having company over. He loved being surrounded by family and friends.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Ty Matkin and wife Audrey and LaDonna Klett and husband David, grandchildren, Misty Scrivner and husband Justin, Amanda Akin, Brooke Klett, Bubba Klett, Brittany Klett, Meagan Lohr and Jamal Freeman, Justin Lohr, Kimberly Weems and Zoe Moree, great-grandchildren, Jack Richmond, Kendall Scrivner, Bailey Scrivner and Jeremiah Freeman.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
