After high school graduation she attended East Texas State University and received a degree in Elementary Education. She was a kindergarten teacher in the Sulphur Springs Independent School District for twenty-eight years.
Lavyn was an active member of the League Street Church of Christ, and the fifth generation of her family to be a member of the church.
She was very proud of her heritage. Her family was not pioneers to Hopkins County because they did not arrive until 1885. For several years Lavyn was an active member of the Hopkins county Genealogical Society. She also enjoyed researching the lives of historical ladies and portraying them in first person narrative. She has published family histories in a number of publications. She also had an appreciation for vocal music and sang with several vocal groups. Lavyn enjoyed collecting antiques and decorating her home with them. On special occasions she entertained friends and family.
She is survived by one son, Brad Sisco, and grandchildren; Justin Sisco, Tori Sisco and Kaytlynn Sisco.
Memorials can be made to the Hopkins County Genealogical Society or to a favorite charity.
