Graveside services for Joyce J. Coker, age 80 of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Yantis Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Crist officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
She was born on February 2, 1935 in Gonzales, TX, the daughter of Herbert and Oma Lee (Johnson) Jowers. She married Merrell D. Coker on June 26, 1950 in Houston.
Joyce passed away from this life at home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 15, 2015. She has gone to be with her husband of 60 years, in the Kingdom of Heaven with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was loved and cherished and will be missed and remembered in our hearts.
She is survived by her two daughters; Melissa J Aszman and husband, Fredrick of Atlanta, GA and Rebecca L Brown and husband, Randy of Colfax, IA; her only son, Merrell J “Skip” Coker of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Dorothy J Shaffer, Mark Brown, Jenny Aszman, and Matthew Brown; great-grandgirls; Alyssa and Charlet Brown.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Jowers.
