Jimmie Joe “Papa Jim” Painter

Funeral service for Jimmie Joe “Papa Jim” Painter will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 10:30 am., Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015.  Father Victor Hernandez will officiate.  Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery, in Point, with the U.S. Air Force performing military honors at the gravesite.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday evening at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mr. Painter was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Hereford, to Hiram Ambrose and Odessa Susan Campbell Painter. He served his country between 1956 and 1967 in the U.S. Air Force…..achieving the rank of Major. During his working career, Jim held the position as Captain with American Airlines. for many years. He married Minda Sanglay, in Point, on Dec. 23, 2000.
Jim was very much a community minded man who served on many committees, including  commissioner for the Rains County Commissioners Court, Pres. of Rains County Farmers Union, Pres. Friends of the Library, Pres. of the Rains County Environmental Committee, and a member of People Organizing Ideal Neighborhoods Today, Inc.
Survivors include:  wife:  Minda Painter
Daughters:  Robin Painter Krajeck (Jim) of Frisco; Michelle Painter Hardy of Royse City; and Merlynda Delira (Gerald) of San Diego, CA
Sons:  Richard Joe Painter of Rowlett; and Edward Marcus of Los Angeles, CA
Brothers:  Gary Don Painter (Pat) of Amarillo; and, Larry Lon Painter (Cora) of College Station
Grandchildren:  Thane (T.J.) Hardy; Keely Hardy; Wyatt (Boomer) Johnson; Kendal Johnson; McKenna Krajeck; and Cameron Krajeck
Grand-dogs:  Piccolo and Kieko
Numerous other loving family and friends
Preceded in death by:  Parents; 1 daughter, Melanie Jo Painter; and 1 son, Justin Den Painter
Arrangements under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home in Emory.
