Plane Crash at Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport Thursday Evening

airportFire engulfed a private plane and the pilot was transported to Parkland Hospital Thursday evening. The bi-plane crashed on take off from the Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport. Sulphur Springs Police Chief Jay Sanders told KSST News that the 9-1-1 call came into dispatch at 7:41 p.m. Sanders said the pilot was burned over 100 percent of his body and was alive when transported by air to the Dallas hospital burn center. Sanders said representatives of the FAA would arrive Friday morning to begin investigation of the crash. The pilot, from Nebraska, was in Sulphur Springs to visit a local aviator friend.
