David German, 46, of Nebraska, is still in critical condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas after fire engulfed his private plane and he was transported to Parkland Thursday evening by air ambulance. The Aeromaster Fixed Wing Single Engine bi-plane crashed on takeoff from the Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport. Sulphur Springs Police Chief Jay Sanders said the 9-1-1 call was received at the city dispatch office around 7:41 p.m.
First reported by EMS that German had burns over 100% of his body, that has been reduced to 92% following examination at the Parkland burn center.
Sanders said representatives of the FAA would arrive Friday morning to begin investigation of the crash. The pilot, from Nebraska, was in Sulphur Springs to visit a local aviator friend.
