“Game Day” Lady Cats’ Basketball Team Earned a Playoff Spot

On the strength of a three game winning streak including a victory at Pine Tree Tuesday, the Lady Cats’ basketball team made the playoffs. Their district mark is 7-7. Lady Cats Basketball Coach Jeff Chapman believes the light bulb came on for the Lady Cats as they fought for a overtime win over Hallsville last Friday. The Lady Cats meet John Tyler Monday at 7 p.m. in Lindale for a b-district gameĀ I talked with Lady Cats Basketball Coach Jeff Chapman.

The Wildcats’ soccer team has yet to score against the three best teams they have played in district play. The 2-3 Wildcats lost two of those games 1-0 including a loss at Longview Tuesday night. The Lobos scored midway through the second half and made it stand up. A late Wildcats chance went right at the Lobo’s keeper. The Wildcats try to even their district mark as they host Texas High Friday night.

Lady Cats Soccer Coach Jesus DeLeon expected a tough game with Longview Tuesday at home. After all they won their district in one class above last year. What Coach DeLeon didn’t expect was some crazy bounces of the ball. The Lady Lobos scored goals on two very long kicks and a miss hit. The result was a 5-0 Longview victory that dropped the Lady Cats district record to 3-2. The Lady Cats play at Texas High Friday.
