Millard Dee Mabe

Funeral service for Millard “Dee” Mabe, 82, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Bryant and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery with Stacy Cody, William Mayeau, Jason Haire, Chris Smith, Chris Campbell, and Ronny Landers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordan Ford, Medicine Chest Pharmacy “Work Buddies”, Busy Men Radio Television Bible Class, Gene Bailey, Bob Gideon, Ron McGowen, and Logan Vaughan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday January 9, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home.

Mr. Mabe passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at his residence. He was born on November 7, 1932 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Willie Bill and Mabel Morris Mabe. Dee graduated from Miller Grove High School in 1949. Mr. Mabe served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Hopkins County Military Coalition. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #221 for 50 years, was a member of the City Council and was also Mayor. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, was employed with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, and was currently employed with Medicine Chest Pharmacy for the past 11 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Busy Men Radio Television Bible Class. He married Darlece Campbell on December 7, 2010 in Hugo, OK. She survives. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by step-son, Chris Campbell and wife Stephanie of Tyler, step-daughter, Kelly Smith and husband Chris of Jasper, step-grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, and Dillon Campbell of Tyler, Addie Gregg, Landon and Chase Smith all of Jasper, brother, Roger Mabe and wife Merida of Sulphur Springs, sister, Doris Mullens of Mesquite, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jake Mabe. Memorials may be made to the Greenview Cemetery Association, P. O.
