Funeral services for Billy Mack Thomas, age 69, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.J. Duffey officiating. Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Ronald Wills, Mark Baker, Larry Riles, Donny Townsend, Jerry Edwards and Eugene Edwards serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mr. Thomas passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Mr. Thomas was born on February 9, 1945 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Jack and Dora Faye Vickers Thomas. He married Gloria Ashby on April 12, 1968 in Sulphur Springs. She survives. Mr. Thomas served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a professional driver and owner of Thomas Trucking for 45 years. He was of the nondenominational faith.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Bryan Thomas and wife Louise of Sulphur Springs, one daughter, Annette Van Dyck of Los Angeles, one brother, Bobby Jack Thomas and wife Choice of Sulphur Springs, one sister, Norma Wilkinson of Dallas, grandchildren, Kaci Brown Dozier and Branson Thomas, step-grandchildren, Kaci Allan, Austin Allan and Brandon Joslin, great-granddaughter, Dawson Dozier. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Laverne Zarata and Glenna Shuttlesworth. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
