It was a disappointing loss for the Lady Cats’ basketball team in their first game in a Kaufman holiday tournament Monday. The Lady Cats had a 3-point lead after three quarters but they were outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter as Mabank took a 45-34 win. The loss dropped the Lady Cats to 8-6 for the season. Kaylee Jefferson led the Lady Cats with 14-points and she collected 8-rebounds. Chrissalynd Person and Tori Moore added six points each. Daieyshia Pruitt had a team-leading 9 rebounds. The Lady Cats only made two of 16 3-pointers and shot 30% for the game. They did manage to hit eight of 10 free throws.
After opening a Kaufman holiday tournament with losses to Mabank and Ennis, the Lady Cats rediscovered their winning ways with a 60-52 win over North Mesquite Tuesday. Daieyshia Pruitt led the Lady Cats with 18 points. Kaylee Jefferson added 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Kasey Moore had 10 points. The Lady Cats led 34-23 at the half and held on to win. The victory upped the Lady Cats’ record to 9-7.
