“Updated” The Lights of Life Gala Celebration Kicks Off


The 19th Lights of Life Campaign and 9th annual Gala is underway after a kickoff event at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning. The events were created by the hospital foundation to raise funds to purchase items for the hospital. $25 lights in memory of or in honor of loved ones are now for sale and will go on a Christmas tree that will be lighted on December 4. This year’s goal is $250,000.

During the Lights of Life kickoff, Brian and Leesa Toliver were introduced as the 2014-2015 campaign chairs, Wayne and Wanda Galyean were recognized as Honoree Campaign Chairs, and the gala theme, The Great Gatsby was introduced. The 2014-2015 Lights of Life goal is $250,000 and the money raised this year will purchase three (3) additional Telemedicine machines, three Flex Coils for MRI machine, and assist in purchasing a new First Response suburban for EMS. Mini-Events that have contributed to the goal. The 200 participants in the September 20th half marathon raised $17,515. The style show hosted by Carrie Crowson and Lou Nell’s contributed $2440. Texas Tech enthusiasts won the Fly Your Flag bidding which combined with contributors representing other universities in the area raised $4060 .

The Lions Club Christmas Parade Friday December 5th and the Tree Lighting December 4th will also contribute to the event.
