Brashear News 11/5/14 By Debbie Young

Elections are over and I say good! Busy day yesterday with the election and so glad so many of you found us at the Brashear Baptist Church. I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces and some new faces. We had a great turnout even though the weather wasn’t conducive to getting out to vote. Thank you for taking the time to vote.

So sad to hear that the Old Store in Brashear has closed. I will miss seeing Amanda’s smiling face and also will miss her hamburgers. I heard last night she also made some awesome fried bologna sandwiches. We will miss you and your store.

I haven’t gone out to check the rain gauge, but I am so thankful for the rain we have received. Now let’s pray that we get some more.

I want to invite anyone who is separated or recently divorced to attend the DivorceCare session on November 19th that deals with “Surviving the Holidays”. We all know that the holidays would be especially difficult during this period. If you need more details, call Tom Young at 903.413.1673 or Debbie Young at 903.612.8806 and find out more. Or call FUMC at 903.885.2185.

If you are stew hungry, come and join us at FUMC’s Harvest Sale. Serving starts at 5:00 until around 6:30. Also, the Hamilton Bible Class Annual Bake Sale will be at the FUMC church starting at 8:00 on Friday, November 7th. This is an annual fundraiser for our church and we love seeing familiar faces. If you know someone who needs a lift, come by and check us out. There are more than just baked goods too. We will be in the FUMC Fellowship Hall ready to take your money. Just kidding.

I have run out of news so I am off to visit with Enola on the radio about our “Surviving the Holidays.” Take care and have a great week. Go Wildcats against Marshall Mavericks. Let’s get this. Remember to call me at 903.612.8806 with your news, or email me at [email protected]; or stop by for a visit. The bulldozer is out back so look for the place that has 4 outbuildings to the south of the house. Thanks again for reading my column and all of the wonderful comments you make. One last thing, we want to express our congratulations to Larry and Angie Blount on the birth of Barrett Dixon, their grandson by Bailey and Chase Dixon.
