Tira News by Jan Vaughn 10/21/14

The Fall Carnival at North Hopkins School will be held this Friday, October 24th, from 6-8 p.m. There will be lots of games, food, and prizes!

Joyce Dodd reported that their son, Michael, spent the day with them on Monday. She fixed lunch, and then they walked through the pecan orchard. They enjoyed the beautiful day!

Yvonne Weir, of Tira, and Brenda Allen, of Yantis, have returned from their east coast trip. They report having a great time. Yvonne says, “It was so nice not to have to worry about driving or hotels or anything.” They saw lots of beautiful leaves and historic places.

The North Hopkins Alumni Homecoming is Saturday evening, November 1st. All former students and teachers and their guests are encouraged to attend. Registration and visiting will begin at 4:00. A few prizes will be awarded through Bingo, which begins at 4:30. Other door prizes will be given following the barbecue dinner, which will be served at 5:30. Cost for the meal is $12 per person. There will be a brief program after the meal. The Class of 1964 will be honored. We are hoping for a good turn out for the event.

Chip and I were in Dallas, visiting Chip’s sister, Linda Ellen Vaughn, on Friday evening and Saturday. We had a delicious Italian dinner at Tony’s on Friday evening. On Saturday, Chip and Linda worked on cleaning out her barn and storage building. She put me to work sorting and organizing her large boxes of greeting cards.
