Jackie Ray Sims

Jackie Ray Sims age 60 of Cumby, Texas died on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas. He was born on December 6, 1953 in Greenville, Texas to Jackie and Betty Jean Mills Sims. He married Laurie Racheal Pittman on October 30, 2011 in Fairlie, Texas.

Mr. Sims was a member of Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie and Lead Maintenance Engineer at Mohawk in Commerce. Jackie was a humble man and loved every moment of time he was able to spend with his family. He could repair anything, and enjoyed fishing with his friends. Jackie’s patriotism spurred him to study about WWII and especially the Pacific Theater. His sense of humor and friendship will be greatly missed.

Survivors are his wife Laurie Sims of Cumby, daughters Sharon Williams and husband Jason of Pensacola, Florida, and Shannon Taylor and husband Paul of Wolfe City, three step-children Jordan Charlock, Kendall Bain, and Chandler Bain, five grandchildren Alec Williams, Kayla Williams, Laura Fenter, Ryan Fenter and Jacob Fenter, brother Richard Sims, special aunt and uncle Jean and Gail Frey several nieces and nephew and cousins, in-laws Linda and Austin Terrell Pitman and Gloria and Mike Murphy, brothers-in-law Austin Terrell Pitman and wife Melissa and James Pittman and wife Christy, grandparents-in-law Eleanor and Austin Pittman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13 at the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Oliver Mowat and Ronny Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie with Jason Williams, Alec Williams, Paul Taylor, Ryan Fenter, Roger McDaniel, and David Lemmon service as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Fenter. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
