“Updated” Hopkins County Sheriff’s Detective Daniel Winn Arrested

A Hopkins County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigator, 34-year old Daniel Madison Winn of Sulphur Springs, has been arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence. Indications are the charge involves theft of drugs from the Sheriff’s evidence room. JP Yvonne King set bond for Winn at $25,000. Winn was asked to take a drug test. Then a two-day Sheriff’s investigation resulted in his arrest. A Texas Ranger is now assisting in the investigation. Chief Criminal Investigator Lewis Tatum said lawmen are as accountable for what they do as anyone else. He added if they find something wrong, the Sheriff’s Office would make it known to the public. Winn was fired and will be replaced by Deputy Dennis Findley
