Funeral services for Sophia Alice Mourgos McGrady, age 85, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pete Adrian officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with her grandsons, Christopher Hensley, Timothy Hensley, Jonathan Holt, Jordan Watson, Ryan Watson and Stirling Hostetter serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tanesha Randolph, Kathie Weatherford, Christon Dabney, Pam George, Louise Crump, and Charles Dawson. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGrady passed away Monday, September 08, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. McGrady was born on April 14, 1929 in Sulphur Springs the daughter of Dan K. and Mamie Lee (New) Mourgos. She married Wayne McGrady on May 28, 1948 in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death. Mrs. McGrady retired from GTE after 20 years. She was a charter member of the Dial Study Club and a lifelong resident of Hopkins County.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn Holt and husband David of Sulphur Springs, David Wayne McGrady and wife Linda of Aledo, TX, Susan McGrady Watson and husband Mike of Sulphur Springs, Amy McGrady of Sulphur Springs, Gail Hostetter and husband David of Olney, IL, grandchildren, Christopher Hensley and wife Cathy, Timothy Hensley, Jennifer Hill and husband Mark, Jonathan Holt, Matt Holt and wife Ashley, Andy Holt and wife Lindsey, Jordan Watson, Ryan Watson, Alice Ann Hostetter, Stirling Hostetter and Katie Hostetter, and 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dan K. “Buddy” Mourgos, and sister, “Teetsa” Elaine Mourgos Maxwell.
