“Updated” 10th Annual John Chester Dutch Oven Cook off

The 10th annual John Chester Dutch Oven Cookoff will be taking place during Indian Summer Days at Heritage Park on Saturday, October 4. Rick Wilson with the Hopkins County Historical Society says all it takes to enter is $25 plus your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Wilson says he’ll even accept entries the day of the cookoff. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for meats, vegetables, bread and desserts.

What can you expect at Indian Summer Days at Heritage Park in Sulphur Springs Saturday? Native American dancers, storytellers, an archeological dig pit, tin punch, candle dipping, people in period costumes demonstrating butter churning, soap making, blacksmithing and grist mill operation, antique cars, quilts, music and Dutch Oven cooking.
