A longtime key person at the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, bookkeeper Pinkie Cooper, is retiring but you will still see her around the office some. Pinkie will continue to work part time as an Executive Consultant to train her replacement. Ms. Cooper, a native of Pickton, has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 25 years. She has worked for three sheriffs: Bill Dirks, Mark Bassham and Butch Adams. She has also been a mother figure for countless deputies and correction officers.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department surprised Administrative Assistant Pinkie Cooper with a party Wednesday. Ms. Cooper retired May 31 after 25 years with the department. Pinkie has been brought back to train her replacement. Her job includes payroll, arranging transportation of inmates and getting paperwork ready for inmates headed for TDC. She says the department is just like family. Pinkie plans to spend more time with her grandkids, she wants to go on a cruise and there is plenty to do on her property with gardening and baling hay. She promises she won’t be sitting around.
