Funeral Services for Virginia Pickett, age 77 of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Chapel with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at City Cemetery with Aaron Pickett, Robert King, Keith Bell, Brandon Burks, Jay Owens and Terry Edwards serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Carpenter, Elvin Harry and the Doris Dobson’s Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Virginia Pickett died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at her residence. She was born on April 22, 1937, the daughter of John F. and Clara Summers Humphrey in Pickton, TX. She married William T. Pickett on December 17, 1951 in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death in 2012. Survivors included: sons, Delbert Pickett and wife, Cheri of Sulphur Springs and Billy Pickett and wife, Karen of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Alice Shelton and husband Johnny of Tyler; brother, Jack Humphrey and wife Joyce of Forney; grandchildren, Josette Bell, Amanda Vigil, Letitia Hughes, Amy Burks, Chelsea Pickett and Aaron Pickett and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, David Pickett; and 3 brothers. Memorials may be made to the Gideon’s Ministry.
